The First Indonesian State-Owned Enterprise Business Contract in Kuwait

Ministry of Electricity and Water, Kuwait (April 1, 2021) – Indonesian Ambassador, H.E. Tri Tharyat has witnessed the signing of a business contract between PT. Cogindo DayaBersama and the Ministry of Electricity and Water of the State of Kuwait (MEW). The project is to provide electricity services and maintenance throughout Kuwait and is valued at USD 25.3 million for the next 3 years and absorbs 297 workers including from Indonesia.

Ambassador Tri stated that this success was a manifestation of the implementation of the Indonesian President's order and the MoU on "BUMN Go Global" between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) of Indonesia to increase Indonesia's outbound investment abroad. Furthermore, the success of Cogindo is expected to open more investment from Indonesian SOEs and private companies as well as to increase in Indonesian skilled workforce in Kuwait. "Indonesia can be proud of this achievement, because it has shown its competitiveness and won the trust in Kuwait. I hope the project goes well, which will be a positive note for the Kuwaiti Government for the performance of Indonesian companies," said the Indonesian Ambassador.
